Rosemount 5408 and 5408:SIS two-wire non-contacting radar level transmitters using energy-efficient FMCW technology with Smart Echo Supervision, for liquids (oil, gas condensate, water, chemicals) and solids in storage and buffer tanks, reactors, blenders and mixers, open atmospheric applications, still pipes and small to medium silos. Top-down installation, unaffected by density, viscosity, temperature, pressure or pH. Profile A for monitoring and control (liquid, solids, or liquid & solids measurement; standard ±0.08 in / 2 mm or ultra ±0.04 in / 1 mm reference accuracy; 4-20 mA HART 7, FOUNDATION Fieldbus or Rosemount 2410 Tank Hub connectivity). Profile F (5408:SIS) for safety instrumented systems, IEC 61508 certified for SIL 2 with SIL 3 capability, 4-20 mA HART, with remote proof testing for overfill prevention, level deviation monitoring or dry-run prevention. Maximum measuring range 130 ft (40 m), 492 ft (150 m) with extended range option ER (5408 standard), 50 ft (15 m) in ultra accuracy. Aluminum or stainless steel housing; cone (PTFE or PEEK seal), process seal and parabolic antennas, with operating pressure up to 1450 psig (100 bar) and temperature from -76 to 482 °F (-60 to 250 °C) depending on antenna. Smart Diagnostics Suite alerts on antenna build-up, weak power supply and abnormal surface conditions, with seven days of measurement, alert and echo-profile memory. Hazardous location approvals (explosion-proof and intrinsically safe, USA, Canada, ATEX, IECEx and others) by option.
