About this document
A one-page drawing of Energinn's helical PCP gas separator, with callouts that explain its features and benefits step by step along the flow path from the intake to the pump.
Well fluid enters through angled intake ports. At the entry of the flow chamber the flow direction is reversed, which produces a shearing effect that breaks down heavy oil and sand clumps before they reach the pump. Circular flow channels in the mandrel then increase the velocity of the fluid to drive the separation.
At the exit of the flow chamber, centrifugal forces separate the gas from the liquid: the gas follows a cone to the gas exhaust port and vents to the casing annulus, while the liquids flow on to the pump suction. Large ports on the top sub let the liquids enter the pump, and the drawing points out the improved gas exhaust system that removes the gas.
The document is useful when choosing a gas separator for a progressive cavity pump in a well with free gas, heavy oil or sand. Specifications are subject to change without notice.
